Young people's voices heard, more space for facilitators to connect

13:1 brings 13 themes together in one digital confirmation education resource. We are developing it with young people for young people: audiovisual prompts, varied activities, theological background and a planning tool support facilitators and young people's own reflection.

Idea

A ready-made framework with room for your own facilitation style

Textbooks and facilitator guides offer knowledge, activities and useful methods for confirmation education. Sheprock brings each theme's contents together in one ready-to-use digital resource. The aim is to reduce time spent finding and combining separate materials and make it easier to prepare teaching that suits your group.

One theme supports the parish familiarisation period. The remaining 12 are used during the intensive period. You can use the whole planned framework or select individual themes alongside the Bible, your parish's textbooks and other materials.

13:1 · Love connects

13 themes 1 whole Room to care

For us, 13:1 also has a joyful biblical connection: the same numbers point to love in two letters. First Corinthians 13:1 reminds us that even the most impressive speech means little without love. Hebrews 13:1 encourages us to keep mutual love alive.

For us, this gives the resource a caring direction: knowledge, stories and activities through which every young person can feel seen and find their place in the group.

The complete resource

13 themes · 1 whole

Each theme's contents work together and give confirmation facilitators options for engaging their group. The Finnish-language resource is being developed into a continually updated, sign-in-protected material bank.

01

Audiovisual and sensory prompts

Short films, interviews with young people and photo series by young photographers introduce themes through young people's own world. Related reflection questions and art-based sensory warm-ups help the group pause and explore the topic.

02

Varied printable materials

Theme-based PDF activities, colouring pages and illustrated note pages create space for doing and personal insight. Summary pages bring together key teachings and related Bible passages. Together they form each young person's own confirmation workbook.

03

A broad idea bank for reflection and processing

Musical, storytelling, artistic and practical activities, games and play give different learners ways to explore the same theme individually and in groups. Ready-made Kahoot activities with QR links support review and shared reflection.

04

Material that looks and sounds like young people

Young people help develop ideas and produce content. Interviews let their voices be heard, and everyday questions connect with confirmation themes. In workshops they plan and create photographs, illustrations and AV content.

05

Clear theological background for the facilitator

Each theme is planned to include theological background, facilitator guidance and three interpretative examples. These help explain the topic to young people, offer alternative approaches and leave room for the facilitator's own style. Bible passages connect the teaching and workbook material.

06

An integrated digital planning tool

We are planning a tool that brings selected content into a clear lesson outline: warm-up, exploring the topic, reflection and review. It also aims to support planning the full intensive period and create a combined equipment and materials list.

We are planning an annual licence scaled to parish size, allowing the confirmation team to use the resource under agreed terms. Its value comes not only from the materials but also shared access and ongoing development.

Young people involved

From young people to young people – from ideas to production

We invite young people of and around confirmation age to develop and review stories, questions and activities. We welcome both those involved in parish activities and those less familiar with church language and practices. Interviews, photographs and workshop ideas bring the material closer to their everyday lives. Participation ranges from planning stories and tasks to creating illustrations and AV content. Different experiences and young people's feedback can also guide future updates.

Are you aged 13–18, or a professional who works with young people? Help develop confirmation education content. You can contribute voluntarily according to your interests and availability.

Partnership · With young people for young people

Together, enabling confirmation education shaped by young people

We invite businesses and organisations to support the production and ongoing development of Christian learning materials that encourage young people's participation. Partnerships can focus on the digital service, short films and illustrations, written content or young people's involvement in planning and film production.

Our shared purpose is young people's wellbeing. We agree discreet brand cooperation and clear benefits with partners, while educational content and work with young people remain independent.
